Privacy Policy

Rockedge Ltd — Last updated: July 2026

Rockedge Ltd (Companies House no. 08983879), a company registered in England and Wales, trading as Rockedge Audio (“we”, “us”, or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, why we collect it, and how we handle it in connection with our website and audio plugin software.

We are committed to handling your data responsibly and in compliance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018. We are registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO registration no. ZC180273).

1. The Plugin — Data Collection

Our audio plugin software contains no telemetry, analytics, crash reporting, or usage tracking of any kind.

License activation. Each time the Software is launched with a valid license keyfile, it contacts Rockedge Audio servers once in the background to register your machine. The following data is transmitted: a pseudonymous machine identifier (a one-way hash of hardware characteristics), your operating system type, your license key string (a pseudonymous identifier that allows us to look up your license record on our servers, but does not itself contain your name or email address), and the major version number of the Software. The full contents of your keyfile — including your name — are never transmitted. This data is used solely to monitor compliance with the per-machine limit in the EULA and to verify version entitlement, and is not shared with any third party.

License keyfile. The keyfile is stored locally on your machine and used to verify your right to use the Software. The keyfile must not be distributed to others.

Trial mode. The Software may be used in trial mode without a license for an unlimited period. No data is sent off your device during trial use.

2. Purchase and Payment Data

All purchases are made through Paddle (paddle.com), our Merchant of Record. As MoR, Paddle is the legal seller of our products and independently controls the customer data collected at the point of sale — including your name, email address, billing address, and payment information. Rockedge Audio does not see or store your payment card details.

Because Paddle acts as the legal seller, their privacy practices govern the majority of the personal data collected during a purchase. We strongly encourage you to read Paddle’s Privacy Policy before completing a purchase.

Rockedge Audio receives a purchase confirmation from Paddle containing your email address and order details. We use this solely to deliver your license keyfile and respond to support requests.

3. Website Data

We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising trackers, or profiling tools on our website. We do not sell or share visitor data with any third party. Standard web server logs (IP address, requested URL, timestamp) may be retained briefly for security and operational purposes and are not used for marketing or profiling.

4. How We Use Your Data

The personal data we hold is your email address (received via Paddle on purchase, or submitted via a waitlist form) and, upon license activation, a pseudonymous machine identifier, OS type, and Software major version number. Where you submit a waitlist form, we also store your stated platform and plugin format preferences. We use this data to:

  • deliver your license keyfile;
  • resend your license if requested;
  • respond to support queries you initiate;
  • notify you of important updates to the product you have purchased (very infrequently, if at all);
  • monitor compliance with the per-machine activation limit in the EULA using pseudonymous machine identifiers;
  • notify you when a product you expressed interest in launches, if you submitted a waitlist form.

We will never sell, rent, or share your email address with any third party for marketing purposes.

5. Legal Basis for Processing

Under UK GDPR, we process your email address and activation data on the basis of contractual necessity — it is required to fulfil your purchase, deliver the license, and enforce the terms you agreed to — and, where applicable, legitimate interests in providing ongoing support and ensuring fair use of the Software. Where you submit a waitlist form, we process your data on the basis of consent; you may withdraw that consent at any time by contacting us.

6. Data Retention

We retain your email address and order details for as long as your license is active or as required to comply with our legal obligations (e.g. tax records). Activation records (pseudonymous machine identifiers and OS type) are retained for the same period to support license compliance monitoring. If you request deletion, we will remove your data except where retention is required by law.

7. Your Rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you;
  • request correction of inaccurate data;
  • request erasure of your data (subject to legal retention requirements);
  • object to or restrict certain types of processing;
  • receive a copy of your personal data in a structured, machine-readable format (data portability);
  • lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

To exercise any of these rights, contact us at support@rockedge.co.uk. We will respond within 30 days.

8. Security

We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect the personal data we hold. However, no method of transmission or storage over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. For material changes we will make reasonable efforts to notify affected users directly (e.g. by email), and where required by law we will seek fresh consent before continuing to process your data under revised terms.

10. Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes relating to this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
